Albert Josey Obituary

Brother Albert Junies Josey was born on December 11, 1947. He passed away on Monday, December 10, 2018, just one day short of his 71st birthday at Palmetto Health Hospital in Columbia, SC.

He was the eldest son of the late Bro. Ethel “Bert” Josey and Sis Ruby Lee Gee Josey of Darlington.  He is remembered as a faithful and loving father, and a devoted husband.

Albert attended the public schools of Florence County and was a 1966/67 Graduate of Johnson High School in Timmonsville. He is fondly remembered by his siblings as their loving older brother who was always working and helping this father and younger brother.  He always looked after his parents and he had a lot of time and patience with all of them.

He loved to purchase cars, drawing, music, instruments, ad loved to eating seafood.  His son Torrey remembers him always singing “church” songs at home and praying.  He was a member of the church in the Lord Jesus Christ of the Apostles Doctrine, Inc. baptized in the name of Jesus Christ, and received the gift of the Holy Ghost.  He also raised his family in the church.

In his lifetime, he worked in the construction with his father and brother, did auto body shop work ad eventually worked about 15 years at Merita Bakery in Florence SC as a operator machinist.

He married the love of his life on April 1973 to Sister Diana Johnson and to this union of 45 years, three children were born, Gregory, Torrey, and Demetrious, “Peaches”.

His wife Diana and father, Bro. Bert Josey preceded him to the grave.

He leaves behind to cherish his memories: Three children Gregory (Shalam) Josey of Lake Norman, NC, Torrey (Loretta) Josey of Charlotte, NC, Demetrious (Travis Robinson) “Peaches” of Darlington, SC. His loving mother Sis Ruby Lee Josey of Medford Nursing Home of Darlington, SC. His siblings; Sis Maggie (Willie) Abraham of Florence, SC, Ernest (Cherry) Josey of Florence, SC, Ethel Mae(Kenneth) Dubose of Darlington, SC, Rudine (Willie) Ham of Timmonsville, SC. His adopted sisters and brothers Earnestine Mack of Florence, SC, Deborah Johnson of Timmonsville, SC, Ralph (Clinton) Johnson of Atlanta, Ga, and Buster Johnson of Florence, SC. In-laws are Sis. Carolyn (William) Oree of Lancaster, SC. Sis Rosemary Johnson of Lancaster, SC, Betty (Randy) Clyburn of Monroe, NC, Larry (Carolyn) Johnson of Lancaster, Aaron Johnson of Bennettsville, SC.  Several Aunts and Uncles; Mrs. Jessie Bell (Jeffrey) Barr, Mrs. Sarah Quillen, Mrs. Ruth Helen Brown, Mrs. Catherine Johnson, Mrs. Janie (Ernest) Couser, Mr. Johnathan (Johnnie) Gee, Mr. Norman (Mildred) Gee, Mrs. Pearlie Mae Gee.  He also leaves seven grandchildren; Katora Lorraine, Melany Divine, Chance Torey, Jabari Isaiah, Nyseer Zariah Samira, Darien Nigel and Alexander Shianne. He also leaves several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, including a large church family.
