Mrs. Etaphine Ellison Hyman as known as “ Bean”, the daughter of the late Quillie Lewis and Mae Bell Eaddy Lewis, was born in Florence County on April 23, 1936. She departed this life May 24, 2018 at Palmetto Health Richland in Columbia, South Carolina.
At an early age she joined St. Luke A.M.E Church and accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior. She attended Florence County School District and served faithfully in various organizations, until her health declined. She was a member of the Usher Board, Stewardess Board, and a founding member of the Gospel Wonder Choir. For several years, she was also a member of St. Luke Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter #116 and Heroines of Jericho, Hyman Court #2.
Etaphine and her children carried God’s word through songs in the Pee Dee area. Her hobbies included singing, cooking, baking, and working in her garden. She was a precious jewel to her family and it showed by always having a positive attitude during her illness and the enjoyment she had when fellowshipping with people.
She was joined into holy wedlock to the late Arie Ellison Jr. and to this union, six children were born. Once he deceased, she later married Ellis Hyman. She was preceded in death by: her parents Quillie and Mae Bell Lewis; three sons, Willie James, Hubert, and Levern Ellison; one daughter, Lou Etta Johnson: and her granddaughter, Ashley Johnson: her grandsons Randell Stuckey and Demond McHenry; her husband’s Arie Ellison Jr. and Ellis Hyman: and her brothers; Esaw, George, and Nathan Lewis.
Left to cherish her memories, a loving daughter, Linda (Roosevelt) Grant, Blythewood SC; a devoted son Aaron (Vanessa) Ellison, Jessie McHenry, Patsy (Darryl) Green, Pamplico SC; daughter in-laws; Elaine and Vanessa Ellison, nineteen grandchildren who she loved and they loved her Isaiah Deleon of the home, Belinda (Antonie) Rountree, Miranda (Derrick) Woodberry, Julian (James) Anderson, Marcus Grant, Anthony Eaddy, Brian Ellison, Latanya (Tyrell) Waiters, Lalaina Ellison, Shauntelle (Waddell) Coe, Shaunyetta (Draper) Foster, Terrell (Demetress) Washington, Segee (Soloman) Lewis and Elizabeth (David) Guerrero; eleven great-grand children, one brother; Allen (Ola) Lewis, one sister; Annie Bell Eldridge, two brother in-law Alex Rowell and James Ellison; sister in-laws Christine, Lottie, and Ivory Lewis, and Gevena Ellison Woodberry, Two devoted nieces Louberdie Law and Ann Marie Cade and A devoted nephew Henry Eldridge. Special thanks to a devoted friend Wanda Washington and her kids. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
