Mr. James “Jimmie” King was born in Florence, South Carolina, the son of the late Emma K. Gass and Edward King on November 15, 1942. He departed this earthly life on Friday, August 31, 2018, at his residence after an extended illness.
Papa, as he was affectionately called by his Grandkids, attended the Florence County Public Schools and was an avid hunter, fisherman and a huge Dallas Cowboys fan. He was a retired plumber and a member of Mt Pisgah Baptist Church in Florence, SC. His loving spirit touched so many lives and will forever be remembered in our hearts.
Jimmie was joined in holy wedlock to Miss Janice Moore and this union was blessed with four children.
In addition to his parents, Jimmie was preceded in death by: a son Sheldon L. Daniels and two sisters Barbara Lewis and Victoria (Vickie) Gass.
Left to cherish his love and memories are: his loving wife, Janice Moore King of the home: two daughters: Melanie (Lawrence) Outerbridge and Donna King; two sons: James King and Tremayne (Tammaron) King, all of Florence. One special grandson who he raised as his own Jamaal King and seven other grandchildren, Jordan King, Imani King, Malik King, Justin King, Jazmyne King, Sherita Outerbridge and Jasmine Outerbridge, all of Florence; three great-grandchildren: Mekai King of Atlanta, Kayloni King of Florence, Tristian Outerbridge, all of Florence; four sisters: Mrs. Shirley (Nathaniel) Smith of Florence, Mrs. Margie Ogun of Raleigh, NC, Mrs. Myrtle Hill and Mrs. Edna Bection, both of Providence, RI; nine brothers: Mr. Sampson King, Mr. Dave Gass, Mr. Sandy Gass, Mr. Gregg (Shirley Ann) Gass, all of Florence, Mr. Marty (Angie) Gass of Raleigh, NC, Mr. John (Laverne) Gass, Mr. Archie Gass, Mr. Donnie Hogan, Mr. Micky (Bonnie) Hogan, all of Providence, RI, numerous nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
