Lydia Reese Obituary

Ms. Lydia “Louvenia” Reese was born on April 26, 1925, and the last  surviving child of the late March David Eaddy and Minnie Bartell Eaddy of Coward, South Carolina. On the early morning of Thursday, December 19, 2019, she was called into eternal rest. As a faithful child of God, Louvenia devoted her life to sharing the love she received from Christ for the many lives she touched and the children she created, helped raised and shaped. The Lord blessed her, and we thank God for allowing her to be with us for 94 years.

Louvenia attended public schools of Florence County. She was a sharecropper for many years, until she began working at DuBois Dyeing Company until the plant closed. After which, she worked with        Johnsonville Manufacturing Company, and then as a caregiver at a Nursing Home in Florence, SC for two years until she retired. After retirement, she enjoyed spending time with her family, working in her garden, sewing, cooking/baking and sitting on her porch in her spare time.

Louvenia joined St. Mark A.M.E. Church at an early age. She served in several ministries which included Missionary, Stewardess, Senior Choir, Pulpit Aide, and assisted with a host of many other ministries. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star Kingsburg Chapter #182. She  continued to serve as long as she could.

Louvenia was united in holy matrimony to Mr. William Reese, Sr., and to this union twelve children were born and nine preceded her in death: Mitchell Reese, Mamie Eleanor Reese, William Reese, Jr., Wardell Eaddy, Sr., Rebecca Reese Woodberry, Liddie Mae Graham, Cleveland Eaddy, Troy Reese, Sr., Calvin Reese and one great grandchild.
