Charlotte Margaret Battiste Smith Timmons was born on December 29, 1936, to the late William and Annie F. Battiste. On October 29, 2018, God called one of his precious angels home to take a rest.
She was baptized into Christianity in at Trinity Missionary Baptist Church in Florence, South Carolina. She joined the Monumental Missionary Baptist Church in 1973 under the pastoral leadership of Rev. Dr. Vandroth Backus.
During her membership at Monumental, Margaret served in the following capacities: Junior Missionary, Senior Missionary, Senior Choir, Jubilee Choir, Pastor’s Support Ministry, Pulpit and Willing Worker Ministries and Youth Choir Advisor. In 2017, Monumental Missionary Baptist church honored her as “Mother of the Year”.
Mrs. Timmons was a hard and dedicated worker. She was employed at Jack Johnson Day Care, Roses, Florence Morning News, and was called a “Great Cook.”
Mrs. Timmons was preceded in death by her husband Jessie Timmons.
Mrs. Timmons leaves to cherish her fond memories her six children: Brenda (Azell B.) Gee , Dannielle (Richard) Davis, Kenneth (Tanya P.) Smith, Gregory (Tyesha) Smith, Kevin (Sandra) Smith, and Shannon (Melvin) Howard. Two step daughters: Della Ann Timmons and Doretha Timmons. Her loving grandchildren: Azell (Sera) Gee, Terlisa (Peaches) (Mel) Packer, Jeremy Carson, Kenneth (Keisha) Smith Jr., Keenan “Blake” Davis, Kendra (Aaron) Rowe, Keith (Brad) Davis, Amber Smith, Kevin “Ian” (Chelsea) Smith, Jazmen Smith, Kell Davis, Justin Myers, , Damien ”BJ” Johnson, Quinn Smith, Kevin Howard, Herbert “Elijah” Smith, Gabrielle Smith, and Tatiana Smith. Her precious thirteen great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren,sisters: Anna B. Myers of Hyattsville, MD, Virginia B. Louis of Orangeburg, SC, Hanna B. Jackson of Atlanta, GA, and Julie B. Tilford of Atlanta, GA; brother, William Henry (Phyllis) Battiste of Spotsylvania, VA. Mrs. Timmons also leaves a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends to cherish her memories.
