Obituary

Minnie Myers Kelly-Thomas was the daughter of the late Jeff Myers, Sr. and Minnie Wheeler Myers.  She was born in Pamplico, SC on July 8, 1935.  She departed this life on Friday, August 23, 2019 at the Medical University Hospital Charleston, SC after a short stay.  She was the 8th sibling out of 9 children.

     “Lil Minnie” as she was called attended the public school systems of Florence County.   She was committed at the early age and became a long life member of Mill Branch African Methodist Episcopal Church.   She served as a faithful member until her health failed.  Putting God first in her life, she believed in working hard, helping other families, friends pet and traveling the world.  Minnie loved being active in church and community.   She was a board member, order of the Eastern Star, and Heroines of Jericho.

   Minnie was married first to the late Charlie “Buddy” Kelly and to this union two children was born Willie Lee and Linda Jean Kelly.  Before returning back south to Pamplico SC from NYC, She meet and married the late Gerard Thomas and raised their daughter Roseline Thomas.  While living in New York City, Minnie worked with several medical facilities.  Her last employment was with the New York State Creedmore Hospital. She worked as a nurse until her retirement given over 30 years of medical services.

 In addition to her parents and husbands Minnie was preceded in death by her sisters; Anna Myers, Abbie Myers, Hestine Brown, Queen Ester Barr, Edith Mae Williams, Harrestine Cockfield, Elizabeth (Robert) Graham, Gertrude (Will) Hyman and two brothers; James (Carrie) Kennedy Sr, Jeff “Brother” Myers Jr. and a special friend Ezell Davis.

  Minnie leaves her fond memories to her son; Willie Lee (Dana) Kelly of Rockaway Park, NY, Linda Jean (William) Kelly-Strand of Jamaica NY and Roseline Thomas of Florida.  One sister Carolyn Myers of Brooklyn, NY.  Two grandchildren, Willie (Betty) Kelly of Hollis, NY and Taurean (Melinda) Kelly of Rockaway, NY.  Three great grandchildren, Jessiah, Peyton and Justen.  One best friend, Ms. Dorothy Gordon.  Two adopted sons, James L James, Jack Mace and adopted daughter, Geraldine George.  A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
