Obituary

AMELIA ROSE JOHNSON transitioned into eternal rest on Thursday, October 12, 2017 at her home.  She was born on July 21, 1955 to the late Willie Gaines Rose and Mary Gardner Rose in Florence County.  Amelia married Leroy Johnson, the love of her life on February 14, 1973 and was a devoted wife and friend to her husband.

AMELIA graduated from West Florence High School in Florence, South Carolina.  She was a faithful and dedicated member of St. Peters Holiness Church, Florence, South Carolina, Mt. Zion AME Church, Florence, South Carolina and Savannah Grove Baptist Church in Effingham, South Carolina.  She served on the gospel choir at Savannah Grove Baptist Church, as a Sunday School Superintendent at St. Peters Holiness Church and the Sunday School Superintendent at Mt. Zion AME Church.  She also taught Sunday School Classes at Savannah Grove Baptist Church.

Amelia truly loved the Lord and exemplified that every day, no matter whom she met.

Amelia was an avid gardener and seamstress.  She worked for the Florence Morning News and Laneco Printing Shop.   She owned her own print shop for numerous years.

Amelia leaves to cherish her memories her dearly beloved sister, who was her caretaker during her some of her illness, Alberta (Tommy) Goodman of Belcamp, Maryland, seven other siblings:  Etta Rose of St. Petersburg, Florida, Centheal Frierson of Florence, South Carolina,  Abridean Prince of Florence, South Carolina, Bartell Rose of Jersey City, New Jersey, Mary Ann Rose of Florence, South Carolina, Daniel (Pamela) Rose of St. Petersburg, Florida and James (Toni) Rose of Tallahassee, Florida; one aunt, Amelia McCray of Boynton Beach, Florida; two devoted cousins: Stella (Leroy) Hines, Fayetteville, NC and Jessie Garland of Texas, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, including a special niece, Monica Alicia (Michael) Acolatse and two cherished grandnephews and one special grandniece that she reared as her own child and grandchildren.

Special friends to be acknowledged are: Clara Lewis Brockington, David Cooper, Teresa Ford, Douglas and Linda Hawkins, Sam and Shirley Merritts, Raymond and Diane Moses, Police Officer Lundon Jordan, and Patty and Jay Wilson.

Dedicated caretaker to be acknowledged is:  Lillie Graham.
