Mrs. Dorothy Mae Askins was born January 22, 1929 to the late Dana & Inez Grant, God called her home on Thursday August 3, 2017 at McLeod Hospice House.

Mrs. (Dot) Dorothy Askins, she was affectionately known by everyone. She was educated in Florence County Public School. She loved her family and would go the extra mile for them. Our mother was the queen of our hearts, a house wife, and caregiver for many years. Mrs. Dorothy was a lovely gracious woman and opened her home to others. Her favorite times were endless food and fellowship with others.

At early age, she joined Majority Baptist Church where she accepted the Lord as her savior, and later she moved her membership to Monumental Missionary Baptist Church. She was a faithful member of the Missionary Board until her health declined.

Mrs. Dorothy Mae Askins was married to the late Booker T. Askins Sr. for over 65 years. She is preceded in death by her husband, Booker T. Askins Sr, (Parents) Dana & Inez Grant, (Daughter) Charlotte Munford, Son-In-Law Herbert Munford and a daughter-in-law Alzeena Askins.

She leaves to cherish her fond memories; two sons Rev. Jerry (Sheron) Grant, Booker T. Askins Jr all of Florence SC, Three daughter: Julia Askins, Ruby Askins, Delores Askins all of Florence, SC, Eleven grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren and three great-great grands. One sister-in-law Mrs. Lillian Eaddy, Jamaica, N.Y. A host of niece and nephew. She helped raised two special children, Wyatt Adams Jones and Joel Adams as her own. Special people who meant so much & love by Mrs. Dorothy, Mr. & Mrs. Woklh Adams, Mrs. Flora brown, Rita Bing, Mrs. Beverly Ryles, Mrs. Alice Pigatt, Mrs. Clara Burgess, Latarsha Askins,
