Mr. Douglas Lee Stuckey, Jr. was born June 24, 1952 to the late Lizzie Durant Stuckey and the late Douglas Stuckey, Sr. in Florence, South Carolina. He entered into eternal rest on Saturday, February 17, 2018.
Douglas was a member of St. Luke AME Church, where he joined at an early age. Douglas knew God and he talked about Him during his lifetime. He was truly a family man and cared deeply for them. He selflessly provided for his family with honor and integrity, as a father should. His grandchildren were the light of his life. He was extremely proud of them. Douglas was a people’s person who enjoyed making friends and promoting compassion to all he met.
Douglas attended Johnsonville High School, where he graduated from with the class of 1972. Upon graduation, he entered into the workforce. During his early years in the workforce, he ventured to High Point, North Carolina as a brick mason. He continued to develop in his trade for the next four years. As an opportunity presented itself for employment closer to home, he began a 25 year career with Wellman Industries in Johnsonville, South Carolina.
Douglas was united in Holy Matrimony on August 1, 1975 to Evelyn Belin Stuckey. To this union, they were blessed with four children.
Douglas was preceded in death by: his father, Douglas Stuckey, Sr.; his mother Lizzie Durant Stuckey; two sisters Bessie S. Belin and Ola Mae Davis; one brother Gary Stuckey.
He leaves loving memories to be cherished by his loving wife of forty-two years, Evelyn Belin Stuckey of the home. Two daughters, Janice (Aborigine) Stuckey-Young of Lexington, South Carolina, Jessica Stuckey of the home, Douglas Eric (Kaili) Stuckey, Travis (Michelle) Stuckey both of Lexington, South Carolina. Nine grandchildren, Aborigine “AJ” Young, Ansuelo “Sway” Young, Kia’Mara WIlliams, Neveah Walker, Malachi Pitts, Travis Jahmaad Stuckey, Ashton Stuckey, Chloe Stuckey and Devon Barnett.
Two sisters; Shirley (Henry) Allison of Johnsonville, South Carolina, Pearl Mae Stuckey of Atlanta, Georgia. Two brothers; Buster (Phives) Davis of Florence, South Carolina and Walter (Patricia) of Greeleyville, South Carolina. Nine sisters-in-law. Seven brothers-in-law. A very dear, lifelong friend Harold “Butch” (Gloria) Woodberry of Johnsonville, South Carolina. He also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
