Isaac Tyson, 78, passed away peacefully on the morning of Sunday, March 8, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.
Isaac was born on May 5, 1947, in Laurinburg, North Carolina, to the late Fred and Effie Tyson. He was educated in the North Carolina Public School System.
Following his education, Isaac began a long and dedicated career with Washington Metro Rail in the 1970s. He remained a faithful and hardworking employee until his retirement. Throughout his life, Isaac was blessed with four beloved children, whom he cherished deeply: Tonia, Isaac Jr., Alisha, and Andre.
Isaac always held a deep love tor the South. Atter retiring, he returned to South Carolina, where he made his home in Darlington and lived peacefully until his passing.
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving children: Tonia Tyson of Landover, Maryland; Isaac (Yolanda) Tyson Jr. of Elizabeth City, North Carolina; Alisha Tysonof WDC and Andre Tyson of Suitland, Maryland. He is also survived by eleven grandchildren-Antonio Tyson, Ronald Tyson, Tajah Tyson, Melante Tyson, Xavier Tyson, Zamiyah Tyson, Arieil Woods, Ariah Tyson, Aiden Tyson, and Amari Tyson-and one great-grandchild, Ava Tyson.
Isaac is further survived by his siblings: Shirley Small, James (Delores) Tyson, Delores Rhodes, Fred Jerome Tyson, Marleen Dash, Howard Tyson, Fredrick (Ruby) Tyson, Easter (Avery) Ellis, Effie Jane Jackson, Allen (Mary) Tyson, and Brenda (Bobbie) Terry; along with a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Effie Tyson; Sharen Ann Lewis; James Lewis Tyson; and Lee Jerry Tyson.
Isaac will be remembered for his unwavering dedication to his family, his strong work ethic, and his gentle, comforting presence. His legacy of love, strength, and kindness will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
