Jorena Johnson Thomas   known as “Joe”. Joe was born October 21, 1953 in Florence, South Carolina.  The daughter of the late John and Ruth Johnson.  She was educated in the Public Schools of Florence.

She was employed by Pee Dee Coalition and Thelma Brown Head Start, Florence SC.  Joe loved her family.  Although she was a woman of little works, she had a big affect on many lives.

Joe was a great homemaker and she loved her plants.

Joe departed her life on Sunday September 23, 2018 at McLeod Hospice House of Florence, SC after an illness.  She was proceeded in death by both her mother and father.

Surviving to cherish her loving memories include her husband Melvin Ellis Thomas of Florence, SC.   Three children Elvira Johnson, Melvenia Johnson and Melvin Johnson all of  Florence, SC. She also raised Shakeem Robinson of Florence, SC as a son of her own.  Four grandchildren: Jeremy James Jr., Takemia Brown, Aaryhan Glenn and Elijah Brown. Five sisters-in-law: Dorothy Graham, Hattie Thomas, Donna (James) Washington, Cynthia (Eli) Davis, and Berda Dean (Dexter) Caldwell. One brother-in-law Willie (Thomasina) Thomas and  host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other

relatives.
