Miriam L. Horne Sims was born on January 27, 1937.   She was called home to be with the Lord on June 28, 2020, at her home on 506 East Roughfork Street, Florence, SC.

Miriam was raised at 700 Wilson Street, Florence, SC. She was the daughter of  Mr. James and Pauline Horne. She graduated from Wilson High School in the year of 1955. After graduation, she moved to New York City where she meet and married the late William B. Sims. Miriam gave birth to three children; her daughter; the late Sargent Kathy L. Howard of the US Army, her son; William C. Sims, and daughter Teresa E. Sims both are still present. Six grandchildren: the late Jamal and Damien Howard and four present: Shanard Howard, Erica Forde, Evin Sims, and Cassidy Sims. She leaves behind five great-grandchildren and three cousins that were raised by Miriam and her husband. A host of relatives and friends.
