Obituary

If you knew where I am standing, If you could see the sights I see, If you could here the angels singing the song they sing eternally, If you knew the “one” I am holding and could see the smile he smiled at me. If you knew where I am resting, you would not cry for me. I’m resting in the precious arm of Jesus no other place would I  rather be.”

Mamie “Betty” Egleton was born on October 16, 1944 in Florence, South Carolina to the late Leroy and Annie Mae Egleton. On Sunday, November 10, 2019 in the wee hours of the morning, the lord called  Mamie “Betty” Egleton home. He lovingly released “Betty”, as she was affectionately known,  from the constraints of her earthly body. The love of our Lord gave her comfort and peace until it was time for her to meet her heavenly father. There Betty met her blessed  savior, face to face and joined her dearly beloved mother, Mrs. Annie Mae Egleton; her father Mr. Leroy Egleton, her brothers, Mr. Leroy Egleton, Jr., and Mr. James Allen Egleton; her sisters, Mrs.Helen E. Goodman, Mrs. Margaret Galloway; and Mrs. Janie Douglas.

At an early age, Betty accepted Jesus Christ as her personal savior. She joined Maxwell Baptist Church where she served in many capacities. She was a faithful and dedicated member of the Usher Board and served faithfully until her health began to decline.

Betty was a sweet spirited, humble person who left a lasting impression on those who adored her. Betty loved her children, grandchildren, great-grand children, family and friends, while in return, she was admired, respected and clearly loved by her family and friends. If anything was going on  (No matter what) in the family you could always rest assure that Betty would be there and she would notify the rest of the family.

Betty will truly be missed. She was a loving mother, Grandmother, Great-grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend. Those left with many memories are her children: Mrs. Delores (Jasper) Johnson, Mrs. Evone (Melvin) Gamble and George Eggleston of Florence, South Carolina. She also leaves her grandchildren of which three of them, Darvion Eggleston, Antwan Gass and Sade Johnson were reared in her home, as well as her great-grandchildren with many great memories. One brother, Mr. Willie Lee (Lola Ann) Egleton of Greenville, North Carolina; Special friends Mrs. Evelyn Hunter, Ms. Eunice McCall and Mr. Flynn Jackson; and a host of other  nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
