Malcolm Canty Obituary

The world was blessed with an angel when Malcolm Jamal Canty was born. Malcolm, better known as Jamal, was born on November 8, 1993 in Florence SC. Jamal was loved by everyone who met him. His smile and bright eyes lit up every room that he entered. His favorite sport was basketball, and his favorite team was the Los Angeles Lakers.

Jamal’s favorite athlete was Kobe Bryant. When Jamal was a child, he enjoyed riding his bike, playing with his friends, and eating all the snacks in the house (LOL). His favorite video game was Mortal Kombat. He loved it so much he named his only daughter, Jade after a character on the video game. Jamal had a pleasant attitude and loved to make everyone laugh. No matter what curve balls life threw, Jamal always managed to find joy in every situation.

Jamal was very family oriented. He loved his family and friends with all his heart. He became a father at the tender age of 19, but he rose to the occasion. He became the father that his father raised him to be. Jamal loved his kids more than anything in this world. Even when he was sick, Jamal did not want anyone to watch his children. There were many days that he refused to seek medical attention because he wanted to be with his children. His children were the best part of his life. Jamal was the best father that any child could ask for.

On December 29,2020, God saw fit for Jamal to be called home.

Left to cherish his memories and live his legacy are his parents: Maria McCain (Chris) and Benny Canty of South Carolina, his wife Timmekea  and their four children Jayden, Tyler, Kyrie, and Jade Canty of the home, his siblings Yasmine Durant (George), Hakeemah McCain (Michael), and Kahliah Johnson (Daniel) all of SC and Tomika Kimble (Michael) of NC, His grandparents Pearl Canty (SC), Linda Broadway (PA), James Thompson (NC), and Clayton Canty (NC), his nieces Keyara Johnson, Nya Johnson, Roneisha Bush, and Ashanti Milling; nephews Tyreek Holloman, Tiyon Holloman, Kahlil Johnson, Rodney Bush, Keonte Bush, Nasir Johnson, and Ahmad Johnson.
