Backus Funeral Home treated our family and deceased loved one with the utmost respect, kindness and compassion. Other funeral homes we spoke with were aggressive and pushy and all about the $$$, Backus demonstrated true caring and decency as a member of the community, as a community leader and a fine human being. After systemic changes in the process delayed our death certificates, a wonderful member of the Backus team went out of her way to chase down the paperwork and Mrs. Miranda personally deliver the certificates to our home. Backus staff are great people who will treat you like the very best family members at a time when you need it most. We were very impressed with their organization and polish on the day of the funeral. They found a pastor to sing a gospel song that is important to our family during the program, and he did a beautiful job. If you appreciate hard work, sincerity, integrity and kindness, there is no better place to trust the homegoing of your loved one than Backus.

Backus Funeral Home has been around for many many years. (Since I've been a little kid.) From my grandma passing in 2002 up until my daughter passing May 2021. When I say they are THEE best in Florence...I mean it.They are more like family to me. I felt comfortable discussing my concerns about death to the staff and any questions I have before during and even after the process...they are fully answered. Thank you Backus Funeral Home. I am forever grateful.

Backus Funeral Home, words cannot express…We had to send our beautiful grandmother from Florida to her birthplace and final resting place in Darlington, SC. Thank God, Backus Funeral was recommended to us; they answered our call immediately and with their expertise and guidance, our dear Mother and Grandmother was laid to rest and her last wishes were granted.
It was overwhelming for my family, yet Backus Funeral home made us feel at ease and without worry. They went so far above and beyond to ensure that my dear grandmother was treated with the utmost respect and dignity, I cannot believe how they made all of it possible in less than a week. The homegoing service was flawless, the receptiveness and attention to detail was exemplary. They gave my mother a beautiful mirrored glass clock with my grandmother’s picture on it that we will treasure forever. I don’t know how they did it, but they made me and my family feel relieved and comforted. Backus Funeral Home showed us that they cared and we will never forget how grateful we felt on our way back home to Florida.

Thank you to all the staff of Backus Funeral Home for the compassion, sympathy, and professionalism that was exhibited during this difficult time. All concerns were addressed, and open communication was appreciated. Even though arrangements had to be made by both telephone and virtual, no detail was overlooked. Our mother was beautiful and that was because of the care that was given to her as she was being prepared for her final resting place.
